The Best Feedback in the Business
"I am so excited to hear about a old west mmo. I thought it was just rumor, but I kept searching, determined to find someone who'd be creative enough to do it. I have many friends who are also anticipating it. Many of them have Beta tested other mmo's, one of my bud's has never played an mmo because they don't peak his interest. Until now! He told me that an old west mmo would be the only thing that could entice him to start playing. I know the game is still in early development, but I can't wait to play it or even Beta test it. I'm going to print off the shirt's iron on and try to promote the game and get more people informed of it's coming. Thanks!"

-Timothy Bower, Warrensburg, MO

"F1859's evolving gameplay will make it more like paying for something new each month than a monthly payment for the same game over and over" -Sullivan, Georgia

"I see this game as being a key example of what CAN and SHOULD be done."

-Beth Dillon, http://www.bethadillon.com

"I was going through SWG forums, and they had a link to your site. I never knew something like this existed. This is exactly what I've always wanted to play. SWG was my first MMORPG, and since stuff happened I quit it, and I haven't been able to find anything even remotely interesting, since I'm not interested in wizards and magic and stuff like that.

Your idea, even as just a setting is wonderful. Set in history, in real life, so to say. The everyday life, hardships, survival...character building, skills....everything sounds very good. I just want to say that I, for one, would immediately subscribe, if your game came out. I also know many others who would too. I wish you all the best for the future, and that you will get the funding you need. I, myself, will try to post this link to different forums, because I think it has potential to be something great. I hope I will soon be able to play Frontier 1859."

-Mia Tornikoski, Helsinki, Finland

"I bow my head down to all of you for understanding exactly what makes a quality MMORPG, not some treadmill where you play just to level up and fight harder monsters until you blindly become bored and move on to the next MMORPG. I want to thank the developers of this game for stepping up to take full advantage of the incredible, yet untapped potential of the MMORPG genre, because no longer do MMORPGs equal online RPGs, because that just doesn't cut it anymore, from now on, they shall be referred to as "virtual realities"

-Sroek, 19 year old Network Security Student, Los Angeles

"I can't remember when I've been as excited over a project as I am for Frontier 1859. In every other title that's been released or is scheduled for release, players are just cogs in an unchangeable machine. The ability to actually effect change would be groundbreaking. Once they're hooked with that, you knock them off their horse with the conscience inventory."

-Jenuviel, Hospital Admissions Clerk

"Daniel: we all benefit when projects like yours succeed."

-Edward Castronova, www.TerraNova.blogs.com

"As far as mentioning 1859, it was our pleasure to list a game with your unique storyline. In a market flooded with EQ clones, it is the games that endeavor to be different that perk our interest."

-Online Game Freaks

"My 22 year old daughter sent me the URL to Frontier 1859 and I must have spent two solid hours soaking it up. What a fantastic concept, and something the MMORPG community has needed!"

-Julie, 46, Grandmother and Business owner

"I just wanted to let the devs know that I agree with every idea and concept in the FAQ, and I have no doubts that this game will become the best MMORPG, regardless of genre. The concepts of permanent death, reputation, justice system, survival, skills, and crafting classes are perfect. If you hold true to everything you are advertising, the game will thrive."

-Michael Oravecz, An avid gamer

"I really like how you embrace freedom yet still hold the player accountable. (disposition, conscience etc.)"

-Dionysis, Gamemethod.com

"The western setting is a daunting change from the sf/fantasy bread and butter of most MMOGs. The most interesting western game currently in development is the ambitious Frontier 1859 a game being independently developed by the folks of Cosmic Origins studios. Everything I've discussed and more is being thrown into the reality of Frontier, with the added complexity of the first game to truly address the race of a character."

-"Dialogue: The Setting is the Story: Part II" -MMORPGDOT.com

"First allow me to say you guys have a great concept. I am not a native American but perhaps we can set a record straight in history that has been distorted. I am wondering will you have a Indian based character? It's important that future generations understand that they were not "savages" but a people who respected their land and it's resources. What I am proposing would take great courage as todays people have that John Wayne attitude and few know of the suffering that really took place during events such as the 'Trail of Tears' and the distribution of Smallpox infected blankets. I would be first in line and bring scores of people with me. You guys have a great game idea and a chance to show the world a reality that up to this point is ignored and replaced by a myth that still to this day has not been corrected and as far as I can see will not be unless projects like this have the courage to do so Good luck with the development and I shall be putting faith in your development."

-Phil Georgi Oxnard, California

"I live in Norway and I've been monitoring the development of frontier1859 for some time now and I must say, this looks like some of the most interesting events in the gaming history for a long long time, and if its done right, I've no doubt that it will be a tremendous success for your company."

-Martin B., Norway

"God i hope you guys pull this game off, it sounds great and is a great change from the Fantasy and Sci Fi mmorpgs that are out now."

-Holly Webb

"Above all else the game's defining feature is the Character system. Deceptively simple in appearance, it hides a revolutionary way of dealing with operations in game."

-Leif "Altre" Miller, MMORPGDot UK

"Something about the way Cosmic Origins is going about its attempted entry into the massively multiplayer gaming genre caught our interest."

-Pete Gallagher, Game Daily News

"I am not a wealthy man or a representative of an investment interest. However, I do wish to offer words of encouragement. From what I can see so far you are working very hard to come up with a great product!"

-Frederick J. Kuhne, NYS Insurance Fund

"My hope for the future of MMORPG's lay firmly in the province of Frontier1859. Where Story and Character advancement will go hand in hand. Players can put down roots of their own and call a patch of a virtual world 'theirs' while still venturing out to hunt, explore and defend their land at will."

-Roger Hooten, Arlington, Texas

"I just wanted to drop you a line and let you claim me as one more person to add to your list of potential consumers out there that REALLY want this game produced. My father and I got to talking one day after watching a western and thought, wouldn't it be great if somebody made an online western RPG? Well after a while of sitting around wishing for it, i got it in my head that we couldn't be the first ones ever to think of an idea this good. So I browsed the internet in search of a little known RPG that maybe i could order online and was surprised to find that you were the only company looking into a project like this, and that it was only in very early development. So despite my disappointment that i cant jump into what's obviously going to be a great game, I'm really excited about this one. And so as you go around seeking funding for this project, please add 2 more to list of definite purchases as SOON as this game releases which i know it will eventually."

- Michael Osborne

"This game sounds too good to be true! When is the expected release date? As a youth ( I am 65 ) I worked and lived the cowboy life. My cowboy way has been reduced to 3 acres and 2 horses. I have played Asheron's Call and Anarchy Online to pass the time and stay out of the hot sun . It's going to be real nice to have a pc game I can relate to."

- L. Ellis, Age 65, Cowboy, Arizona

"After reading your FAQ on Frontier 1859 I must say I am totally blown away by all of the features you have listed. The way you describe the gameplay seemingly makes this the greatest MMORPG to date and possibly the greatest for many many years to come! However please forgive me if I admit that I'm not completely sold yet. I have been lied to so many times by past mmorpg developers that I now have a blatant distrust for all game dev's. I WANT to believe that your game will turn out EXACTLY as it is in your FAQ, and I will continue to keep hoping and praying that it does, because I SORELY need another mmorpg that is as fun as classic Ultima Online was."

- Ryan Cunningham

"A little over a year ago, Cosmic Origins founder Daniel McMillan first publicly proposed the need for an online role-playing game that would revolutionize the genre. We've all dealt with the problems that come out of a MMOG - overcrowding, griefing, clichés, and server bugs just to name a few. So why not build a game that tries to address these tiresome issues from the very beginning? Furthermore, why not finally build a game that lets the individual player determine exactly how he or she wishes to participate?"

- Luke "Biscosity" Burkett, Stratics Central

"I've been following Frontier1859 since the website went live. I read the forums weekly and I await it with much anticipation. If everything goes to plan (as per the FAQ) you're going to have one kiss-ass world on your hands and you'll be hard pressed to keep up with the demand for it."

- Andrew Z., Massive Online Gaming Magazine

"Hear, hear. I've been reading the interviews with the game developers and am much impressed with their thoughts and goals. I am tired of shooting monsters and living my alter life in a cockpit. I long for the honor and tests of being a virtual man under recognizable situations where there are penalties and rewards to my actions."

- David "Cateran" Lamont, Houston, Texas

"I'll definitely keep my eye out for this and I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm not a huge fan of westerns, not a huge fan at all...but I have to admit the FAQ has got me very much interested in what you might be able to achieve. But fellahs, if you DO get funding (and like I said, I very much hope you do) don't give us any false promises spurned on by the blank check in your hand."

- Fraser Spratt, UK

"I was very interested in your concept for Frontier 1859. I've pretty much blown through all of the current MMORPGS, and I believe that your concept can add a totally new dimension to the RPG portion of MMORPG's."

- Chris Smith, GamersAsylum.com

"Frontier interests me because it promises to be an incredibly immersive game, enabling the players to explore every facet of life and society in the Old West. That's the same reason I'm interested in the upcoming games Star Wars Galaxies and Roma Victor. Plus, the Old West is one of my favorite periods to study in American history. Thousands of people began new lives there, and "turned nothing into something."

- Ian Abbey, San Diego

"Frontier sounds interesting, different, I like original ideas for MMORPG's."

- Laron (Storm), Transients.net

"This game sounds just what I am looking for and I cant wait to get my hands on it and start playing. I have been searching the online multiplayer games for something different, but they all seem to be the same concept either futuristic or medieval monster slayer. I want something I can get my teeth into and really develop a character/s who has some meaning and purpose and who is truly role playing in a game, but is close to real life as possible."

- Marina, 34, Midlands-England

"I'm pleased we were able to help you out, and that we were the first to do so. Your project looks quite interesting - a definite change from anything currently in progress! I'll be more than happy to publicize any future items you may have regarding Frontier."

- Khimera, Editor, MMORPG Cafe, www.mmorpgcafe.com

"What an intriguing change from the standard "men in tights" theme!"

-Cindy Kyser, www.justadventure.com

"The idea is fresh, hasn't been done before. A game for the whole family to enjoy, a game for history professors, armchair historians, re enactors, students...It is a tool for learning without trying to be. It helps us explore our past, while enjoying the comforts of the present, and the prospects of the future. The idea of living a life in game, aging, permanent death, a real morals system, a strong economy, a viable trade skill system, a life essence system where you are truly punished for doing bad, and rewarded for doing good. A game that doesn't cater to griefers and pk's, a game where the object is living! Not death. These are some of the many things that excite me about Frontier. I know it will be a success."

- Jolene Brumbaugh, Community Support Volunteer, Reakktor Media

"But the main limitations on the MMORPG market really seem to be self-imposed: Most developers can't shake the fantasy/sci-fi mind set or conceive of an alternative way of playing. Very few role-playing games have deviated far from the world imagined by that somewhat dotty, Hobbit-fixated Oxford professor 50 years ago, or strayed much from the central conceit of "leveling up" -- that is, improving the traits and abilities of your persona in gradual steps -- originally invented by Gary Gygax for Dungeons & Dragons more than 25 years ago. "

- Wagner James Au, Salon.com

"Just to let you know I read your recent interview in RPGdot. Wow, what a brilliant concept - i love the whole idea, We actually play Deadlands RPG on a Friday night, and EQ when we can."

- Chris Short

"I love the premise for your MMORPG! It's nice to see the genre moving in new directions-- both thematically and in terms of content."

- Tracy Spaight, Producer/Director, mmorpg-film.org

"Just wanted to say hello and that this game is a genius idea. On forums and IRC everyone has discussed why isn't there a wild west MMPOG? I love magic and swords and Elves but there are so many games with magic and swords and Elves (or elf like races and Drow) that it gets old fast."

- Dante Tucker, Fayetteville NC

This is how we begin a world class product. -Daniel McMillan, Founder
