| Dev. Diary - Active/Passive System |
|
It is my pleasure to announce that Frontier 1859 plans to implement an in-game template system whereby Tribes, secret societies, labor unions, vigilante groups, outlaw gangs, and military outfits are enabled to effectively organize and interact with members across various time-zones around the globe.
I firmly believe that this solution will provide the best possible community service by helping players improve organization, and author duty, mission and quest objectives for their group. This will therefore, also help resolve co-operative play (even for the soloist whom belongs to the group)! In this way, we will be able to involve Guilds that were once passive entities in MMORPGs to play a more active role. In other words - a guild will not become "official" until they have a functioning counterpart (I.e. working template) on the game board. The criteria for such membership will be the responsibility of the initiates, as well as game system rules and codes of conduct. For instance, a group of players who wish to organize an official "Cherokee Tribe" faction - will need to generate it's own set of bylaws, and then implement them into the Justice/Reputation system tracking standards for their Tribe. (yes - this means a relative set of moral/ethic values will exist per tribe). Once the criteria is met, the faction will then be submitted in order to be activated as "official." Official outfit will mean that the faction territory will reflect on the main in-game map. Only such entities will be reflected on the in-game map, at least in a state of "last or best known" whereabouts. Granted, there will be a limit to the amount of "official entities" that can co-exist, at least until larger player-bases begin leasing additional territories to add onto the game board. This means that there can still be passive guild entities as well, but they will not have official recognition, but also keep in mind that this may be a strategy for the factions that want to remain obscure (More to come on this at a later time). |
